WEEK 17 - ORLANDO, FLORIDA TO NEW ORLEANS - saturday 21 and sunday 22 august 2010

Friday, September 3, 2010 | |

we got up at 4am and groggily made our way out to new orleans. early morning driving is good for beating traffic, not good for the sleep patterns.
we endured the 9 hour drive to new orleans with a few decent coffee breaks and finally arrived at around 4pm.

we hung out with our couch surfing host Louis and chatted, then joseph had a sleep while Louis and i chatted. poor Joseph was so exhausted from the long drive on 2 hours sleep, so Louis and i headed out and picked up kebabs for dinner and brought them back, and we spent a nice evening eating and chatting and listening to music.

today Louis took us for a tour around New Orleans. We went to a neat old place for breakfast and had eggs benedict, then headed into the french quarter and looked around all of the shops, this could get dangerous, there are so many things i want to buy! :) the symbol of new orleans is the fleur de lie [spelling?!], so lots of things have that symbol on it, so there are so many cute homewares i want to buy!
it is so unbelieveably hot today, so we hung out in a bar drinking water, and chatting to the barmaid and the locals, everyone here is so friendly!

in the evening we headed out for real new orleans food - po boys! short for poor boy sandwiches, its french roll with potatoes and gravy on it. soooooo good, its like a gravy chip butty! yum yum yum! and no msg in the gravy hooray! :)

in the evening we chilled out and watched Public Enemies, its a really good movie, but theres so much fighting, its hard to email and watch the movie at the same time! [i was doing a bit of work at the same time lol!]
