monday 10 may 2010 - venice

today we hopped on the ferry over to the floating city of venice. it is so amazing! so much history and little shops everywhere! we were taken on a walking tour of venice in the rain, and we listened to the guide via little radios, but they kept cutting out as the streets are so small and people are everywhere, its easy to get out of range, but the guide was pretty funny anyway.

then let loose to explore. we stopped and had lunch at a little cafe which seemed quite cheap, but then they stuck a huge service charge on, and it was not so cheap! and then window shopped our way through the tiny streets.

gemma and i checked out st marks cathedral, although you cant take photos inside :( and some other buildings...

we met up with everyone to check out glass blowing [amazing] and i bought some earrings and a necklace,

and then we saw real hand made lace things, and i bought a necklace with lace sparrows on it [so cute!].

we were then taken on a gondola ride! so much fun, and we drank bollini and listened to our gondolier sing and yodel to us.

then on the ferry home!

we are having a bbq dinner tonight, so im looking forward to that! :)
