WEEK 14 - PHILADELPHIA - tuesday 27 july 2010

Monday, August 2, 2010 | |

today we did a bit of sightseeing. first we headed to the reading terminal markets for lunch. joseph had a jewish kebab thing, and i got a hot turkey sandwich with cranberry and stuffing, soooo good!

next we headed down to the constitution center, where we learnt about the history of the declaration of independence, which i discovered i knew absolutely NOTHING about!

we stopped off to visit benjamin franklins grave

we visited the liberty bell as well, and missed out on going inside independence hall, as they only let a certain amount of people in a day, but oh well. we will be back to philly one day, so ill enjoy the history a bit more next time, since i intend on doing some research before i go!
the liberty bell was cool to see and they had a huge display explaining its history and meaning

our next host James, is super organised and thoughtful and contacted his friend in Philly, and she contacted us. her name is Sarah and she is so lovely, and offered to pick us up and take us out for philly cheese steaks. we tried them from each place [the original cheese steak places, Pads and Ginos] and we all agreed that the Pads ones kick ass, the meat tastes way better!

next we headed to the Art Museum, where there is a Rocky statue, so of course we got a pic with Rocky. the area had this awful stench though, and Sarah enjoyed our kiwi style comments of “delightful scent of sh!t”. [a lady infront of me turned around and glared when i said that, man it was funny. truth hurts....].

we also admired the view of the art museum, reminds me of rome a little bit :)

we met up with Akshay and headed to a cute bar and enjoyed happy hour drinks and chatted, and then walked Sarah home and got to meet her gorgeous cat, so snuggly! im having pet withdrawals, i swear i comment on every dogs tail that i see! [you can tell alot about a dog by the way it wags its tail]

we stayed up till 2.30am talking with Akshay, poor guy will be downing the coffee at work tomorrow, but there was just so much to talk about! we will definately miss him.
