thursday 3 june 2010 - rhine valley to amsterdam

Sunday, July 11, 2010 | |

today we headed to amsterdam. the bus is literally buzzing with excitement for the fact that we are going to the city of excitement, sex and strange smelling smoke!
we hit the most incredible traffic jam heading there, it took an hour to go one or two kilometres! crazy! [of course by the time i bothered to take a photo, we'd started moving, but the que went for aaaaages, poor gazza!]

first we did a bike ride through the country side, i havent ridden a bike since my teens, so i was very nervous and wobbly, but i did it! i was at the back of the pack, but still, i did it! hooray! we stopped at the canal of edam, and also had a group photo at a windmill.
[bike ride photos]

next we stopped at the cheese and clogs place, and tried cheese and watched clogs being made. there is a big clog out the front and we tried to beat the record of people whove fit into it, but it must have been a tour of tiny people, we didnt even get close to beating the score! joseph and i bought some clog slippers [theyre soft], they are so cool.
in the evening we headed out into amsterdam and had a very interesting evening! we walked around amsterdam together, through the red light district, then headed to the grasshopper bar with everyone. needless to say, it was a hilarious evening, complete with birthday presents of girls of the red light district, window shopping, intake of interesting items, a really weird sex museum, scrummy hot chips and the funniest mcdonalds experience ever! [go big red and the stool!] if you want to know more, youll have to ask me when i get back!
