today is Marinas birthday! i got started making her cake early, but i couldnt find the electric beater! oh no. but eventually did, but cake turn out a bit flat due to the fact that i didnt cream the butter and sugar enough, and i absolutely suck at folding whipped eggs into cake mixtures. so, the fluffy light cake turned out like a mud cake kind of, but i decorated it nicely, so at least it looked good!

we spent the day cleaning the house and shopping for party snacks with Marina, so fun, you know how much i love supermarkets! :)
Josephs family turned up at 7.30pm, we met them all for the first time, and they are all so lovely! we spent the evening chatting and getting to know everyone, eating yummy snacks and drinking coffee. perfect party id say! :) Liesje even brought old photos to give to Joseph.
we ended the evening siting with Marina and Henk [josephs cousin and husband who we are staying with] and drinking Rose and chatting on the couch. a great end to a wonderful evening! i could get used to this... :)
