WEEK 10 - GERMANY - hildesheim - sunday 27 june + monday 28 june 2010

Sunday, July 25, 2010 | |

today is sunday, and we have awoken in germany hooray! the sun is shining and we are so excited to see Ines and Helge. they lavished a scrummy breakfast upon us, of bread rolls, cheese, cold meats, nutella, coffee, the works! yum! then they showed us around their neighbourhood, its so pretty!

in the afternoon we headed out to the public viewing of the soccer game. it was so cool, the air was buzzing with excitement, and within a few minutes of walking in the gates, germany scored their first goal! everyone went crazy jumping up and down and throwing their drinks and hugging.

after the first half we left, because it was so hot and we were getting burnt, so we headed over to the gun club party, which was just a fair [like the eater show], and we found a bar there and got slushies and watched the rest of the game in the shade.

when the game finished, we walked over to the dancing school where helge was co-teaching a class. all of the cars were going crazy on the roads, tooting constantly in victory!

we got to the dancing school and watched helge teach the beginners class the salsa and other dances and just had a nice time hanging out :)

monday today, and Ines took us out to Hildesheim to look at the shops and old buildings. there arent alot of old buildings left, due to most of them being bombed during WWII, but the shopping district has been rebuilt to look like it used to. found my favourite shop and then promptly forgot the name of it! oh well.... i really like this little village, its so cute and we had really yummy gelato while we were walking around, enjoying the sunshine, and milling around the shops.
oh and we saw the 1000 year old rose bush! exciting!
