WEEK 9 - CROATIA - pupnat - friday 25 and saturday 26 june 2010

today is our last day here, so we are spending the day packing, cleaning and doing our washing, and of course, saying goodbye to my gorgeous wee adopted family, Swirly [mum cat], Ginga [ginger kitten] and Scat [brown stripey kitten]. they have grown so much and are all so soft and lovely. every time i feed them, Swirly comes over and swirls around my legs [hence her name] to say thank you. shes just the most lovely natured cat, and very talkative, we have neat little chats every day, im really going to miss her. Ginga is now talking really loudly and meows a really big meow when he sees me coming, because he knows i usually bring food or water for them. Scat used to be so scattery [name again] and frightened and nervous around people, but now he comes over and cuddles up next to me on the wall when i sit there and drink my evening coffees. They are nice and well fed now, and dont look like manky strays, so hopefully they have the energy to keep hunting together, the mum has been catching them lots of rats lately to eat, so im really happy :) Swirly was so skinny when we arrived, and now she has put on lots of weight, so she can be a good mum for her kittens.
yes i love cats. :)

on saturday we began our long transit to germany. caught the bus at 6am to korcula. then caught a shuttle at 7.45am to dubrovnik which took 3 hours. they served us fresh hot marmalade croissants on the ferry, sooooo gooood!
we stopped for a toilet break in a little place called Ston, so i grabbed a few pics for you

we then got a few treats in dubrovnik to take with us, and managed to find out where the random bus stop was to catch the shuttle to the airport. we caught the 12noon shuttle, got to the airport at 12.30, had lunch, and then waited till 2pm for check in. there was only one check in counter open for the whole flight, go easyjet, got through customs, where they were more worried about my wacom tablet than my chilly bin full of syringe medicine!
we arrived in germany at 6pm, got through customs, and walked to the train station, where it redirected us to a different platform, but it was all written in german, BUT we managed to decipher it, hooray, and caught the right train into Berlin central station. then had a mission trying to get our ticket printed the correct size, because it wouldnt print properly in korcula, FINALLY got that sorted, grabbed dinner, and made it to the platform to catch the 9pm ICE train to Hannover. saw a stag do too, hilarious! the guy was wearing a white outift and you could put money in their donation box and cut off a piece of his outfit.

then we admired the sunset whilst whizzing past on the ICE.

two hours later we arrive, and Ines and Helge were there waiting at our platform with open arms, and big smiles, it was so good to see them!
we hopped in the car [first car in two months, novelty!] and crusied back to Helges, where we have our own apartment for the week! score! we are so spoilt!
